Kagami-ita; image courtesy of Suginami Noh Theater On the Noh stage, no scenery shifts from one play to the next, nor is there a curtain to conceal or reveal. Only a single panel remains—the kagami-ita, bearing the image of a green pine. Its presence suggests that everything capable of casting shade, and thus of creating illusion, has been excluded.
